The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detector) are a plus.

Be sure to inspect your robot vacuum with mop's brushes for hair that is tangled and large debris, and wash them when required. 1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuums uk we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot vacuums that mop uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas tend to be.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. Also the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
