Nitrile rubber (NBR)

Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) is a commonly used synthetic rubber elastomer, with applications across many different industries.
Specific properties of NBR can vary based on its chemical composition. Higher amounts of acrylonitrile will lead to better oil resistance,
but also decrease its flexibility. NBR has many applications across many industries due to its resistance to oil and chemicals, its wide temperature operating range, and abrasion and tear resistance.

Properties

• Very good heat resistance in the absence of air.

• Good hot air resistance.

• Very low gas permeability.

• Moderate tear and tensile properties.

• Operating temperature: -25 to +100 °C.

Chemical Compatibility

• Excellent resistance to oils and fuels.

• Good water resistance.

• Not well suited for ozone or weather resistance.

Applications

• Oil hose, Seal, grommets.

• Injection or transfer molded products.

• Extruded hose or tubing.

• Calendered sheet goods.

• sponge.
