It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robotic hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our tests. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing some more volume and some extra cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its auto vacuum and mop has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty these areas are.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to tell the robot vacuum cleaner which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
