Make sure to check your robot vacuum cleaners reviews's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop robotic hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our tests. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing some more volume and some extra cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its auto vacuum and mop has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty these areas are.
If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to tell the robot vacuum cleaner which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a host of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuum reviews vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
