Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning both dry and wet messes in one session without the need to switch devices. They also can save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

It can detect small obstacles that other models cannot. Its only minor issue is that it can crash into walls and objects at full speed. However, an instant glance at the history of cleaning in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing and where it's headed and the obstacles it's run into or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station tells the maintenance tasks that need to be done like emptying the debris tray, and cleaning the dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent into the water tank automatically by using a 600ml eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long run time. The mop can operate for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode. The vacuum can last 136 mins in standard mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. You can also view the complete cleaning details within the app, which is intuitively laid out and easily understood, though we would like to be able to distinguish between a vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when looking at a clean area in the history of cleaning.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop, is the newest version. Unlike last year's model, this one features a double agitator in its mopping pad which greatly improves carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pick up fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaner and mop cleaners could miss.

This Roborock model, just like the other two models I tested it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it get around obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and decide whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It can then automatically change its path and clean around them without missing a beat.

It's the most expensive robot hoover I've ever tested however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek and angular design is eye-catching and it has just three physical buttons which include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button to send the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank automatically empties and the bin fills up automatically.

The only negative I discovered with this model was that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth when required, but it's a challenge to remove the mount for manual washing. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot passes will come into contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and that can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app lets you manage and set up these advanced features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, track the battery life and maintain your components. You'll have to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering the performance otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

This is an excellent feature as it stops the growth of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and also makes mop systems more efficient. It's a system that we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models, and it could be a good way of keeping your home cleaner for longer.

There's a wealth of settings available, including the ability to schedule cleaning times and adjust a number of different preferences. These settings can be adjusted via the app or there are buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and has many options to customize your cleaning routine. It also has a number of features that aren't available on other robots, like the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction whenever it detects dust particles.
