UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles and hinges on your doors will wear down and require replacement. It is important to keep the same dimensions as the handles you have previously replaced when replacing them.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure with the lock in position, you can remove it. It is crucial to ensure that there is no cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. Most newer cylinders have been made with bump and anti-drill features included in their design. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This helps stop the attack and keep your doors safe.

Certain cylinders are constructed to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common type of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is attacked with a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is a much faster and easier way to gain access than the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which can hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located in the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to help return the multipoint lock handles to their original position after use. The handles had no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was removed. This component is the best solution to address this issue. It also prevents your upvc door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes have been specifically designed for use with multipoint locks that are sprung They will not work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will require a hole specifically cut in your backplate in order for them to fit (please check the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes in the backplates of door handles of numerous brands of uPVC doors. They feature an elongated square that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and are sold as a set.
